Catholic Mass Changes: What Do You Think?

The most drastic changes to the Catholic Mass in the past 40 years take effect today. What do you think of the new "old" language?

Catholic churches throughout the nation today are implementing the biggest change to the Mass in about 40 years, and there is mixed opinion on what this will mean for about 1.3 million Catholics in the Archiocese of Detroit. The Roman Missal is an assembly of prayers, chants and directions used to celebrate Mass. The missal, which was originally translated from Latin to English in the 1970s, has been updated. The most sensitive of the changes is the translation of pro multis as “for many.” The narrative of the Last Supper, which currently reads, “which will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven,” will be changed to “which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.” Pastoral Associate Christine …

I urge you...don't be angry! This is such a holy season. The Mass has so much to offer us, regardless of the translation. Listen to the readings...adore and consume Him in the Eucharist. Allow the Word and the body and blood of Christ to feed you. Life is too short to be angry. God has something for you to do for him....ask Him to show you! Peace!   more ›
