UPDATE: Sobbing Christopher Hearn Sentenced to 48-90 Years in Stabbing Death of Ranae Chupick

Man asks forgiveness in the slaying of his sometime girlfriend in her Royal Oak apartment in September.

Update, 2:10 p.m.: Begging his victim's family for forgiveness, 24-year-old Christopher Hearn was sentenced Wednesday to 48-90 years in prison for the brutal slaying of his off-and-on Royal Oak girlfriend. Before Oakland County Chief Circuit Judge Nanci Grant sentenced Hearn, the Clinton Township man asked the judge if he could turn and address the family of Ranae Chupick, who was 41 years old at the time of her death. Chupick was beaten and stabbed at least 12 times in her Rochester Road apartment. Hearn Pleads No Contest in Stabbing Death of Ex-Girlfriend Ranae Chupick

Plea could mean the Clinton Township man will one day walk free in the stabbing death of the Royal Oak woman.

Christopher Hearn, 24, pleaded no contest this morning to second-degree murder in the stabbing death of 41-year-old Ranae Chupick of Royal Oak, whose body was found by co-workers in her Rochester Road apartment Sept. 19. Hearn had been charged with open murder, which encompasses first- and second-degree murder. Hearn's attorney, Steven Lynch, told the court his client was intoxicated at the time of the slaying. Hearn faces 22-56 years in prison when he is sentenced March 28 before Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Nanci Grant, the Detroit Free Press reported, which means he may be paroled one day. Trial Date Set for Man Charged in Fatal Stabbing of Ex-Girlfriend

The Clinton Township man charged in the slaying of a 41-year-old woman in her Rochester Road apartment arraigned in Oakland County Circuit Court .

Christopher Michael Hearn, 23, was arraigned in Oakland County Circuit Court Thursday afternoon in the stabbing death of 41-year-old Ranae Ann Chupick. Judge Nanci Grant set a trial date of March 5. On Sept. 19, co-workers who were worried Chupick had not shown up at work went to her apartment and found her lifeless body inside in her second-floor home above the Skin Boutique salon on Rochester Road north of 13 Mile. The apartment showed signs of a struggle, and Chupick was found partially nude, beaten and stabbed at least 12 times, Dectective Don Swiatkowski said in court Sept. 23. Royal Oak Homicide Suspect Back in Court Friday

Christopher Hearn, who faces an open charge of murder in the slaying of Ranae Chupick in her Rochester Road apartment Sept. 19, is scheduled for a preliminary exam.

The man facing an open charge of murder in the stabbing death of 41-year-old Ranae Ann Chupick of Royal Oak is scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. Friday in 44th District Court before Judge Terrence Brennan for a preliminary examination. The court date for Christopher Michael Hearn, 23, of Clinton Township had previously been rescheduled to grant prosecutors time to arrange for a “necessary witness” to be in court. "Everything appears to be on target for (Friday)," Royal Oak Police Detective Don Swiatkowski said Wednesday. Christopher Michael Hearn, 23, of Clinton Township was arraigned Friday afternoon on a charge of open murder in the brutal stabbing death of Ranae Ann Chupick in her Royal Oak apartment earlier this week. Hearn lived with Chupick briefly last year and was arrested on a charge of domestic assault on Chupick in 2010 but not convicted, Royal Oak police said Friday. Hearn was released from state prison in January 2010 after serving about 3 1/2 years on a Livingson County home invasion conviction, state records show.
