Students Write, Direct and Perform 5 One Act Plays

The one act festival at Royal Oak High School is free to the public.

The Royal Oak High School Drama Club will be hosting it's first ever student run one act festival this spring Friday April 19, outdoors in the courtyard of Royal Oak High School.  Admission is Free.  The Public is invited. All five of the One Act Plays are student directed and students actually wrote three of the five plays. The entire festival is student run and produced by members of the ROHS Drama Club.  Students pitched their ideas for one act plays and skits, which ranged in time from 5 to 20 minutes, to the club officers who chose the final skits that would be performed on April 19th. Royal Oak High School Presents 'Stage Door'

The lighthearted drama, set in 1930s New York City, follows aspiring actresses living in a boarding house.

Follow the trials and tribulations of Broadway-bound actresses during the 1930s as the Royal Oak High School Drama Club presents its production of 'Stage Door,' a drama by George S. Kaufman and Edna Ferber. The show, directed by Ed Nahhat, centers around Terry Randall, an idealistic young actress, who wants to live out her late mother's dream of achieving stardom. Faced with a decision, should she  "go Hollywood" or enjoy the freedom of live theater, the would-be starlet is forced to do some soul-searching. The huge cast and challenging roles are a perfect fit for the ROHS Drama Club. ROHS Drama Club Presents 'The Pirates of Penzance'

The Royal Oak High School Drama Club presents the classic Gilbert and Sullivan musical this weekend at the school.

The critically acclaimed Royal Oak High School Drama Club is presenting three performances of the classic Gilbert and Sullivan Musical The Pirates of Penzance. There are three shows; Friday, Nov. 16 and Saturday, Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 18 at 3 p.m.. All performances take place at the Royal Oak High School Auditorium at 1300 Lexington.  To purchase tickets or get more information, go to www.rodrama.com. The production features over 50 students in acting, lights, audio, staging and behind the scenes roles.
