A Capella Choir students create fun music video. Now they need votes to win the prize money to refurbish the school auditorium.
The Royal Oak High School A Cappella Choir needs help to refurbish the high school auditorium and you’ll be delighted — even Glee-ful — that it is not asking for money or carpenters. What the student singers need are votes. “Our choir risers are really gross and the seats in the auditorium are in desperate need of repair,” said senior Alexandra Dulin, who along with choir officers Anna Marck, Elena Yarmy, Katie Faddol and Choir Director Debbie Buffa, decided to enter the Glee Give a Note contest to win funds to replace broken risers and 54-year-old seats. Royal Oak student singers are planning a 'positive, not pitiful' video in hopes of winning $50,000 to help the music program.
Royal Oak Middle School Choir Director Diane Mehringer is all smiles as she sings the '90s hit, “If I had a Million Dollars.” However, the educator/songstress would be just as happy with something to the tune of $50,000 — the amount her students could win in the Glee Give A Note contest. Glee creator Ryan Murphy and the National Association for Music Education, of which Mehringer is the Michigan chairperson, have joined forces with the Give a Note Foundation to support and fund music programs in public schools.
