Skateboarders Take Over Streets of Detroit for a Day

Royal Oak skaters, today is your day to celebrate. Share your photos and video here.

Skateboarders from Royal Oak and across the United States converged on Hart Plaza in Detroit on Thursday to celebrate Go Skateboarding Day. Organizers estimated 2,500 skaters showed up for “Wild in the Streets 2012” presented by Emerica, producers of skateboarding footwear and apparel. We know lots of skaters from Royal Oak were in Hart Plaza so show us your moves by uploading your photos and video to this story. Modern Skate Park in Royal Oak will host a “Wild in the Streets 2012” after party benefit show tonight at 7:30 p.m. This  event costs $10, and all proceeds benefit  RideIt Sculpture Park - Detroit's first skate park. Anchor, Child Bite, Snakewing, Drunk Dom and The Roaches, and Wristrocket will all perform at the event.
