Police Blotter: Shrine Runner Hit by Car During Team Run

Highlights from Royal Oak Police Department reports from the past week: Dukeshire and Chester, Oct. 29:  Royal Oak officers responded to investigate a pedestrian hit by a vehicle.  Upon arrival the officers determined that the Shrine High School cross country team had been running on the street when a verbal altercation occurred with the driver of a vehicle.  During the altercation, the driver of the vehicle pulled onto the grass and struck one of the runners and fled the scene.  Officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle nearby and arrested the driver for Felonious Assault with a Motor Vehicle.  There were no injuries as a result of this incident.    1500 block of W. 13 Mile, Oct. 28:  A woman reported someone entered her home …

Police Blotter: Baby Dies, Friend Stabbed, Man with Gun Arrested

Thefts and arrests dominate reports to the Royal Oak Police Department for this past week: 4300 block of Elmwood, Dec. 28: Royal Oak officers responded to a report of an unresponsive infant. Upon arrival, the officers found the 4-month-old was not breathing and the infant’s day care provider was performing CPR. The infant was rushed to Beaumont Hospital by the Royal Oak Fire Department. The infant was pronounced dead at the hospital. The incident is under investigation, but there were no indications of neglect or foul play. 3000 block of West 13 Mile, Dec. 28: Royal Oak officers responded to a reported stabbing inside an apartment. Teen with Butcher Knife Waits for Woman Inside Her Home

A 14-year-old with a history of criminal sexual conduct was arrested Sunday after the Royal Oak resident alerted police.

A teenaged boy entered a Royal Oak woman's home Sunday and apparently waited hours for her to return before fleeing when she spotted him in her bathroom and called police, Royal Oak Police reported. Police say their investigation revealed the teen had been in the woman’s home in the 2000 block of West 14 Mile for a significant time. He had placed several of the woman’s photos on her bed and appeared to be waiting for her to return, according to police. “He came out and told her he was kicked out of his parent’s house and noticed when she left for work and went into her house,” Royal Oak Interim Deputy Chief Gordon Young told The Daily Tribune.
