21st annual event found homes for 537 pets from 37 groups in 13 hours.
During the 21st annual spring Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo event held May 17 and 18 at the Detroit Zoo, 37 animal welfare organizations – including the Michigan Humane Society (MHS) – found homes for 537 animals in just 13 hours. In all, 397 dogs, 139 cats and 1 rabbit became someone’s best friend, representing a 25 percent adoption increase over the event held last spring. Hundreds of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens will be available for immediate adoption to loving homes at one of the nation’s largest off-site companion animal adoption events.
The Detroit Zoo and Michigan Humane Society, in collaboration with more than 20 local animal welfare organizations, will host the 21st annual spring Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo Friday, May 17, 2 to 8 p.m., and Saturday, May 18, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hundreds of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens will be available for immediate adoption to loving homes at one of the nation’s largest off-site companion animal adoption events. A wonderful pet is waiting for you at the Detroit Zoo this weekend.
The Detroit Zoo parking lot was the scene of plenty of wagging tails on Saturday as hundreds of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens waited to meet their new best friends at the Detroit Zoo. Meet Your Best Friend at the zoo is the nation’s largest off-site companion animal adoption event. Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo is under way Sunday.
The 19th annual Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo adoption event is taking place this weekend at the Detroit Zoo. About 400-500 cats and dogs of all ages are predicted to find a new home at the nation’s largest off-site animal adoption program event. The Michigan Humane Society and several other local animal rescue organizations are present this year. For more information, visit the event website.
