NRA Weighs in on Newtown Shooting

The National Rifle Association responded to the shooting tragedy at Newtown, CT in a news conference that was live-streamed on NRA.org at 11 a.m. Wayne LaPierre, executive vice president and chief executive officer of the NRA, spoke to the loss of life in Connecticut before defending the rights of gun owners and talking about some of the larger challenges. "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a guy is a good guy with a gun," he said. LaPierre also pointed to the violent video games that are so pervasive in modern society. "Here's another dirty little truth that the media does its best to conceal," he said, referring to a "callous, corrupt shadow industry" of "vicious, violent video games." Eric Harris engaged in a gunfight with the Deputy Sheriff assigned to Columbine HS.
