Mitch Ryder to Headline Benefit Concert in Royal Oak

The concert will benefit Alana’s Foundation in an effort to honor five-year-old Alana Yaksich, who passed away suddenly after becoming ill with the flu.

Metro Detroit, rev up for the Dream Cruise at the First Annual “Cruisin’ Summer Concert Bash,” at 7 p.m. on Aug. 15 at the Royal Oak Music Theatre, 318 W. Fourth St. in Royal Oak. The concert will benefit Alana’s Foundation, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization, which was founded in 2009, in an effort to honor five-year-old Alana Yaksich, who passed away suddenly after becoming ill with the flu. The foundation seeks to educate and offer flu vaccine clinics, plus it offers grief and emotional support for all parents who have lost a child, either through illness, accident or other trauma. Comedy Fave Kathleen Madigan Tapes Special in Royal Oak

St. Louis Native and Mark Ridley pal comes to the Royal Oak Music Theatre Saturday night.

One of Mark Ridley’s best buds will be in town. The owner of Royal Oak’s Comedy Castle will be front and center at the Royal Oak Music Theatre when his comedy pal, Kathleen Madigan, hits the stage this weekend with two sold out shows Saturday night.  The St. Louis native, a regular at the Comedy Castle, is bringing her “Madigan Again” show to the Motor City to be filmed and edited for a yet to be determined TV broadcast. Ridley and Madigan met nearly three decades back. “I’ve been in business 34 years and brought her in as a headliner knowing just a little bit about her and it’s developed into an ongoing twice-a-year thing since then,” Ridley said. Winter Beer Fest Returns to Royal Oak on Saturday

Sampling event features over 100 Beers at the Royal Oak Music Theatre.

Winter Beer Fest returns for its fourth year to the Royal Oak Music Theatre on Saturday, Jan. 26.  Presented by Westborn Market, beer lovers will be able to sample over 100 craft beers from around the globe, across the state, and down the street, while enjoying beer-inspired cuisine and live music by Detroit acoustic duo Reggie and Nick.   The event runs from 8 p.m. – midnight, and ages 21+ are welcome to attend. Tickets are just $40 in advance ($45 at the door) and include 25 beer samplings.  A VIP ticket is also available this year, with an exclusive tasting hour at 7 p.m.  VIP tickets are $70 in advance/$75 at the door.  Proceeds will benefit Michigan-based nonprofit Camp Casey, a horseback-riding program for children with cancer. Uplifting 'Bras for a Cause' to Benefit Gilda's Club in Royal Oak

Gilda's Club annual gala at the Royal Oak Music Theatre raises funds for breast cancer research.

Gilda’s Club in Royal Oak will hold its annual Bras for a Cause (BFAC) event Saturday evening at the Royal Oak Music Theatre, spreading the word about breast cancer awareness and raising thousands of dollars for research. Many attractions will keep guests entertained throughout the night, including a musical performance by local musicians The Hard Lessons, a live auction, a strolling dinner served by local restaurants and 20 fabulous models - all breast cancer survivors or fighters. The fashion show will be hosted by Amy Lange of Fox 2 News this year. Breast cancer survivors will strut down the catwalk modeling decorative, one-of-a-kind bras.
