Readers' Choice: What's the Best Place to Get Your Taxes Done in Royal Oak?

This week, we're talking about places to get your taxes done. Many of you have probably already filed your taxes by now. If you haven't, keep in mind the deadline is April 17 this year. Readers' Choice: Bella Tan Voted Best Tanning Salon in Royal Oak

The Main Street salon is tops in our weekly poll.

The results are in: Bella Tan was the most popular choice in our Readers' Choice poll this week for where to tan in Royal Oak. So if you're looking a little pale, head over to North Main Street tanning salon, which features both stand-up and bed-style tanning rooms. Bella Tan says it also offers natural looking airbrush tans applied by trained technicians. Some benefits of airbrush tan are camouflaging cellulite, stretch marks, varicose veins and freckles. The whole process can be done in less than 10 minutes and lasts about a week, owner Leeanne Beere said. News from the Pews: Outdoor, Monday Services New for Summer

Local churches take up flower planting and alternative worship times.

Approximately 50 Sunday school students in grades 1-8 will be digging in the dirt Sunday with members of the Green Team at First Congregational Church, 1314 Northwood Blvd. Because of this annual intergenerational service project, 84 red geraniums will brighten the church grounds all summer. The Green Team is a group of outdoor volunteers, tending everything on the church grounds, with the exception of mowing of the lawn, according to the Rev. John Miller, pastor of First Congregational Church. “We have great flower and planting beds and lots of lovely details all around the property.  People go out of their way to walk through our grounds as they come through the neighborhood.
