Sweetest Face: Charlotte Ponce's Surgery a Success
First photos of 10-year-old Charlotte Ponce, a Spring Lake girl whose face was attacked by a raccoon as an infant, were released by Beaumont Hospital this morning.
Last week Royal Oak Patch reported Dr. Kongkrit Chaiyasate, of Beaumont's Craniofacial Clinic, was "very pleased" with the surgery he performed on 10-year-old Charlotte Ponce. Charlotte is a Spring Lake girl whose face was attacked by a raccoon as an infant. Nurse navigator Jennifer Brabant reported last Wednesday Chaiyasate performed a radial forearm free flap in which he took a patch of skin from Charlotte's forearm to create the inside foundation of the girl's nose. When Charlotte was 3 and a half months old her birth mother laid her down for a nap with a bottle and then left her unattended.
