Police Blotter: Police Officer Assaulted, Uninvited Drunk Arrested

Highlights from Royal Oak Police Department reports from the past week: 600 block of Park, Mar. 7: Royal Oak Officers responded to a residence to arrest a person with an outstanding warrant. During the arrest process a second person interfered with the arrest and assaulted one of the officers. During the struggle the officer was injured. The officer was transported to the hospital for treatment. The initial person was arrested for the outstanding warrant and the second person was arrested for assaulting a police officer. 200 block of Oakdale, Mar. 3: A man reported an intoxicated person entered his home and passed out in his living room. What if the assailant of the responding officer had a weapon? Thankfully there were two officers on the scene which should be the case in any domestic dispute, or in the case of an outstanding warrant maybe even more. I am surprised a tasor was not used in this incident, it would have been justified.   more ›

While the employee was unloading the weapon it discharged. The bullet grazed his abdomen causing a minor superficial injury.  400 block of W. 13 Mile, Feb. 27: A woman reported someone broke into her home through the front door. You can take this safety stuff just so far and it then becomes super-silliest. Whomever was handling the handgun breached a cardinal rule. It certainly has brought this error to the attention of authorities, I would however keep a record of what's going on at Target Sports. I have only gone into Target twice and both times didn't care for the owner's attitude or customer service.   more ›

Highlights from Royal Oak Police Department reports from the past week: 28300 Woodward (Seville Motel), Feb. 4: Royal Oak officers and the Royal Oak Fire Department responded to the Seville Motel regarding a baby not breathing. The infant was rushed to William Beaumont Hospital for treatment. At the hospital the child was pronounced dead. The case is currently under investigation. 200 block of Dewey, Feb. 1: A woman reported when she returned to her home, she heard her back door slam closed. She then observed two men jump the gate from her backyard and flee the area. Simple. Avoid that gun range, There is something obviously not right there. I do not think the owner really cares as the incidents do not obviously affect his bottom line. As I repeated before minimally there should be a certified firearm instructor present on the range at all times, preferably a retired police officer. Highlights from Royal Oak Police Department reports from the past week: Area of Pinehurst & Crooks, Dec. 28:  Someone reported an injury accident involving young adults being pulled on sleds behind a pickup truck.  Investigation revealed a group of young adults were being pulled through the snow on sleds behind a pickup truck.  One of the individuals on a sled had hit a parked car and received minor injuries.  This individual was transported to William Beaumont Hospital for treatment.  The driver of the pickup was arrested for reckless driving and the three individuals on the sleds were issued tickets.   Fifth Avenue Bar, 215 W. Highlights from Royal Oak Police Department reports from the past week:  PNC Bank, 225 S. Main, Dec. 26:  The bank reported a suspect walked in armed with a handgun and demanded money from a teller. The man received an undisclosed amount of currency and fled on foot. The man was described as 5-feet 8-inches to 5-feet 11-inches tall, medium complexion, wearing a black winter hat, a black ski mask, a black winter jacket, tight fitting black pants and athletic shoes.   1400 block of Cherokee, Dec. 21:  A woman reported she was awakened by noises and saw someone in her home.  She described the suspect as a male with wavy medium length brown hair.  Investigation revealed the suspect had entered through an unlocked bedroom window.  The suspect …
