Butterfly Bake Shoppe in Berkley: The beloved bakery's last day in operation was Dec. 22. Dawn Schwanke, owner of the 2012 Readers' Choice award-winner, created everything from cookies for community events to a birthday cake for Motown star Martha Reeves. Schwanke closed up shop so she can spend more time with her family. 5 New Things at Royal Oak Clay, Glass & Metal Show

There’s something for all ages downtown this weekend from quality art to live acoustic music, art classes and hands-on opportunities, numerous demonstrations and, of course, wonderful food.

The 18th annual Clay, Glass & Metal Show takes over Washington Avenue in Royal Oak this weekend with 125 artists and 40,000 patrons expected to visit downtown for this one-of-a-kind art festival. Unlike other art shows, this one is unique because it is unified under a central theme, according to Jennifer Clark, director of events for the Royal Oak Chamber of Commerce, which organizes the event: “Fire is used to manipulate all the art and to make them the creations they are supposed to become.” Besides the quality artwork, there will be many interactive elements allowing visitors to make their own art, watch how art is made and participate in a community art project. BRU Fest to Benefit Leukemia Foundation

Fundraiser will feature 13 Bell's beers, burgers, wings and beer-inspired desserts to support the Children's Leukemia Foundation of Michigan.

The inaugural BRU Fest promises an evening featuring Michigan-made craft beer, good food and entertainment plus the benefit of supporting children and adults affected by leukemia, lymphoma and other blood-related cancers.  The event kicks off a 7 p.m. Saturday at the Royal Oak Farmers Market. Tickets for the 21 and up event are $35 in advance at brumichigan.com and $40 at the door. With each ticket purchase patrons will receive 10 tokens for 10 five-ounce beers and unlimited burgers, wings and desserts. Additional beer tokens can be purchased for $1 each.
