It's Christmas, the coffee has been poured and the presents are unwrapped — now what do you do? While you wait for the inlaws to arrive and Christmas dinner to finish cooking, flip one of these holiday classics to keep the kids, as well as the rest of the family, entertained.

Big, Bright Light Show, Nutcracker Ballet and More Holiday Fun Abounds in Oakland County

Looking for some cheer in the area this weekend? We've got the scoop on when and where the festivities will take place!

Have you been swept up in the holiday spirit? Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to indulge it this weekend in Oakland County.  Holiday concert: The annual performance with the Madison Chorale, which is celebrating its 40th year and is under the direction of Maureen Kennedy, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at Our Lady of La Salette Church. Tickets cost $15; call the music office at 248-541-3762 for more information. Magic of Birmingham: Shopping events take place Saturday, Dec. 15, at most downtown shops. Nutcracker Ballet: More than 30 dancers from the Rosemarie Floyd School of Dance/TMB Ballet Company in Royal Oak will bring the holiday story to life inside the Clawson High School auditorium. Parades, Tree-Lightings and More Holiday Fun Abounds in Oakland County

Looking for some cheer in the area this weekend? We've got the scoop on when and where the festivities will take place!

Santa has a busy agenda this weekend. He's going to be traveling around Oakland County for parades, tree lightings and other fun events. Holiday Lights Parade and tree-lighting ceremony: The festivities begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, with free trolley rides downtown and continue throughout the day with a petting zoo, caroling, etc., and go into the night with the tree-lighting and carriage rides after the parade, which begins at 5:30 p.m. Here’s a link to the full schedule: http://patch.com/A-pkHk Winter Markt: (Yes, that’s how you spell it!) takes place from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in Shain Park. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Berkley – and just in time: The eighth annual Holiday Lights Parade will take place Saturday. Berkley Holiday Committee volunteers spent several evenings this week preparing Santa's antique sleigh and city workers strung up lights under the watchful gaze of Berkley's giant jolly old elf statue at 12 Mile Road and Coolidge Highway. The preparations are all in anticipation of the day of festivities that will culminate with a tree-lighting ceremony at City Hall. 'Black Friday Creep' Spurs Online Petition Drives to Save Thanksgiving

Thousands are signing an online petitions against Black Friday store opening hours that have been pushed into Thanksgiving Day.

The trend for stores to open earlier and earlier to take advantage of Black Friday sales—even to the point of opening in the evening on Thanksgiving Day—has prompted an online petition drive to give Thanksgiving back to employees and their families. The original petition was reportedly created by a Target employee upset that the retail giant is opening on Thanksgiving and requiring employees to work instead of spending time with their families. Target stores will open their doors at 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving. As of Tuesday morning, there are more than 179,000 signatures on the petition. (Check out the petition here.)
