Fox Detroit Tigers Announcer Talks Triple Crown, Pennant Race, Fans

Patch asks Tigers expert and Fox Sports Detroit baseball announcer Mario Impemba to weigh in on the team's rocky regular season and its playoff quest.

The roar of Detroit Tigers fans will be heard throughout Metro Detroit this weekend as the team enters the American League Division Series against the Oakland A's.  As Fox Sports Detroit's voice for the Detroit Tigers, baseball announcer Mario Impemba has been with the team since the first pitch of the regular season. Patch reached out to the Macomb Township resident and ultimate Tigers fan to get his take on the team's rather rocky season, Miguel Cabrera's Triple Crown and the spirit of fans who are holding their breath and crossing their fingers for a World Series appearance. Patch asks Macomb Township resident, Tigers expert and Fox Sports Detroit baseball announcer Mario Impemba to weigh in on the team's strengths and playoff possibilities.

With the first pitch of Opening Day only a few hours away, Patch caught up with Macomb Township's resident Tigers expert Fox Sports Detroit baseball announcer Mario Impemba to ask his thoughts on the team's strengths and odds for the season. Impemba has been the TV voice for the Detroit Tigers on Fox Sports Detroit since 2002 and provides the play-by-play calls alongside color commentator Rod Allen. Patch: What does Opening Day mean to you? Impemba: Opening Day to me is much more than the actual game, it's an event. It's a day that represents a fresh start to the new year. I have met Mario a couple times and he seems like a class act. Glad he's on the air in Detroit this year and look forward to seeing/hearing him call a lot of games (when I am not at the ballpark!) On paper, I agree with his assessment. We will see...   more ›
