Explore the outdoors with the Royal Oak Nature Society in August.

Nature Photo Shoot

Join Don Drife and others for a Nature Photo Shoot at the Royal Oak Nature Society Arboretum on Monday, August 19th starting at 6 p.m.  The Arboretum is located behind the Leo Mahany/Harold Meininger Senior Community Center (3500 Marais Ave. in Royal Oak.  Late summer wildflowers will be blooming, and there should be many insects to photograph as well.  Rain date is Aug. 26 at 6 p.m.

Meadow of the Arboretum

"Meadow of the Arboretum” is being held at the Royal Oak Nature Society Arboretum on Wednesday, Aug. 21, beginning at 7:30 p.m.  Meet at the Royal Oak Senior/Community Center (3500 Marais) parking lot-north end.

Mushroom Nature Walk

The Royal Oak Nature Society Friends of Fungi, is doing a Mushroom Nature Walk on Saturday, Aug. 24.  The group will meet at the parking lot at Lexington and Marais at 9:45 am.  Mary Fredricks, a member and botanist/mycologist of the Royal Oak Nature Society, will lead the walk.  Anyone with an interest in learning more about mushrooms and other fungi of the urban woods is welcome.
