A red-tailed hawk tried to hitch a ride with the Royal Oak Police Thursday.
The officer's cruiser was stopped near the Detroit Zoo when the bird was caught on the ROPD's new state-of-the-art communication system.
The Royal Oak City Commission approved the WatchGuard In-Car Video System for police last November.
By the way, police report no one's feathers were ruffled in the incident.
