Teens Set Fire Near Churchill Community Education Center

Highlights from Royal Oak Police Department reports from the past week:

Teens set fire near school

707 Girard (Churchill Community Education Center), Aug. 5: Royal Oak Officers responded to the school to investigate a break in.

After reviewing surveillance video, officers determined three people entered the school through a window at approximately 1 a.m. and damaged several light fixtures, knocked items off the walls and stole a fire extinguisher.

An office chair from the school was also taken and was set on fire outside of the north entrance before the individuals fled the building. The school did not suffer any damage as a result of the fire.

Two of the individuals involved appear to be white males in their teens.

2004 Fiesta Bowl football

2900 block of Shenandoah, Aug. 7: A person reported someone entered the residence through the bathroom window and stole an Apple desktop computer, diamond and pearl earrings and an autographed 2004 Fiesta Bowl football.

License plates stolen

700 block of Marlin, Aug. 2: A man reported someone stole the license plate from his 1994 Mercury Topaz.

2200 block of Northwood, Aug. 2: A woman reported someone stole the license plate from her white 2007 Nissan Sentra.

Thieves target bikes, computers and more

386 N. Main (Hamlin Corner), Aug. 4: A woman reported an acquaintance stole her iPhone. 

3100 block of Evergreen, Aug. 3: A woman reported someone stole a red Haro bicycle left unsecured in her front yard.

900 block of E. 11 Mile, Aug. 2: A man reported someone stole his blue Schwinn Clear Creek 18 speed bicycle.

400 block of S. Minerva, Aug. 1: A woman reported an acquaintance stole her Dell laptop computer.

27550 Woodward (Royal Oak Ford), Aug. 1: The business reported someone stole a dealer license plate.

734 S. Washington (Hookah Joes), Aug. 5: A woman reported someone stole her purse she left unattended in the bathroom. 

4000 block of W. 13 Mile, Aug. 7: A man reported someone stole his cell phone. 

Acts of vandalism

400 block of E. Third Street, Aug. 4: A woman reported someone threw a rock at her vehicle.

710 W. 11 Mile (Live Well Chiropractic), Aug. 4: A business reported someone broke the window on the north side of the building.

400 block of E. Parent, Aug. 3: A man reported someone keyed his vehicle.

32301 Woodward (Art Van), Aug. 3: A woman reported someone keyed the driver’s side of her vehicle.

4400 block of Springer, Aug. 2: A man reported someone broke out the driver’s side rear window of his vehicle.

1900 block of Kalama, Aug. 2: A woman reported someone damaged the driver’s side mirror of her vehicle.

Vinsetta and Houstonia, Aug. 6: A person reported someone spray painted graffiti on a “Stop” sign and a “Yield” sign.

3600 block of Hunter, Aug. 7: A woman reported someone damaged the gate at the end of her driveway and her front door.

iPhone stolen from a woman’s hand

200 N. Main Street (Emagine Theater), Aug. 4: A woman reported a man took her iPhone out of her hand and fled the area. The man was described as a black, 17-19 years old, 5-feet 10-inches tall and 160 pounds with a shaved head. The suspect was wearing a black Adidas jogging suit with white stripes.

Breaking and entering

333 W. Seventh Street (Data XU), Aug. 2: A man reported someone stole a 55-inch Samsung LCD television from the business.
