Thieves Target Lockers, Cars in Royal Oak

Highlights from Royal Oak Police Department reports from the past week:

Home invasion

  • 1000 block of Owana, July 20: A man reported an acquaintance stole a toolbox from his enclosed front porch.
  • 4400 block of Judson, July 19: A woman reported someone entered her unlocked apartment and stole her wallet.
  • 300 block of N. Vermont, July 18: A man reported someone entered the vacant home and stole the furnace.

Items taken cars

  • 4400 block of Arlington, July 22: A woman reported someone stole loose change from her unlocked vehicle.
  • 4400 block of Arlington, July 22: A man reported someone stole loose change from two unlocked vehicles parked in his driveway.
  • 2400 block of Starr, July 21: A man reported someone stole the wheels from his Black 2013 Dodge Charger.
  • 1900 block of Nakota, July 20: A woman reported someone attempted to break into her vehicle.
  • 1700 block of Wickham, July 23: A woman reported someone stole the license plate from her Black 2009 Ford Fusion.

Items taken from lockers

  • 1016 W. 11 Mile (Y.M.C.A.), July 19:  A man reported someone broke into his locker and stole an iPhone and an undisclosed amount of currency.
  • 25352 Woodward (L.A. Fitness), July 19: A man reported someone broke into his locker and stole an undisclosed amount of currency.
  • 25352 Woodward (L.A. Fitness), July 19: A man reported someone broke into his locker and stole an undisclosed amount of currency.
  • 25352 Woodward (L.A. Fitness), July 22: A man reported someone stole two iPhones and miscellaneous clothing from his unsecured locker.

Purse, bike reported stolen

  • 386 N. Main (Hamlin Corner), July 22: A woman reported someone stole her purse.
  • 1200 block of S. Main, July 24: A woman reported someone stole her purple and silver mountain bike.

Acts of vandalism

  • 736 S. Washington (Nada & Company Decorating), July 20: Someone broke a window in the rear of the business.
  • 828 E. 11 Mile (Cash Advance America), July 20: Someone damaged the front door of the business.
  • Beechwood and Lloyd (Water Works Park), July 24: Someone spray-painted graffiti on two trailers in the park.

Cars stolen

  • 4800 block of Woodland, July 21: A man reported someone stole his orange 2004 Chevrolet Colorado.
  • Second Street and Main Street, July 19: A man reported someone stole his 2009 black/silver Honda CBR 1000 RR motorcycle.
  • 2400 block of N. Vermont, July 25:  A woman reported someone attempted to steal her gray 2004 Chevy Trailblazer.


Royal Oak K-9 Unit Assists Oak Park

  • 20000 block of Beverly (City of Oak Park), July 20: The Oak Park Police Department requested a Royal Oak K-9 Officer to assist them with locating a Larceny from Automobile suspect. The suspect fled from Oak Park officers on foot. Royal Oak Officer Richard Chipman and K-9 Ryker responded to the scene.
