Eastbound Normandy Closed at Crooks

Drivers get creative, use new routes to get into Royal Oak High School parking lot, baseball fields and stadium.

Drivers who normally travel east on Normandy Avenue from Crooks to Main Street need to find a detour today as the busy road's eastbound lanes are closed as roadwork begins this week.

Construction barrels and equipment were put in place Monday, blocking access from the west for a large parking lot at Royal Oak High School as well as access to its ball fields and stadium.

The stretch of Normandy between Crooks and Main will receive new concrete pavement and be resurfaced this summer. This road work is expected to be funded through MDOT and City Act 51 funds and the estimated cost is $895,300, according to the city.
