The weather: Pack for chilly nights

Around Royal Oak, National Weather Service forecasts called cloudy skies and temps topping out around 60 degrees today. Saturday and Sunday are predicted to warm up into the 70s and 80s, but with a chance of rain and thunderstorms overnight Saturday and early Sunday. Monday looks to be the best day: sunny and warm, with highs in the mid-80s.

Across Michigan, the weather predictions are similar. Rain was in the forecast today, Saturday and Sunday all the way to Lake Michigan on the west side of the state and up to the Mackinac Bridge. Temperatures were expected to be slightly cooler: in fact, a frost advisory was issued Thursday night for the Traverse City region.

The gasoline report: Here's where to fill up

The least expensive gas around town today was $3.89 a gallon at the three gas stations at 12 Mile and Crooks roads. It is running around $3.99 a gallon at many other Royal Oak gas stations and  as much as $4.08 per gallon at the Marathon at 11 Mile Road and Campbell, according to GasBuddy.com.
