UPDATE: Royal Oak's Miss Michigan Misses Miss USA Cut

24-year-old model Channing Pierce hoped to follow in the footsteps of 2010 Miss USA, Rima Fakih of Dearborn.

Royal Oak's Channing Pierce, Miss Michigan USA, fell short in her bid to follow the path of another Metro Detroiter in capturing the Miss USA pageant title on Sunday night.

Rima Fakih of Dearborn hands over her crown tonight in Las Vegas and 24-year-old Pierce was hoping it would land on her head, but it was not to be. Pierce did not make the cut to advance to the quarterfinals of the pageant.

Pierce had been modeling for about four years when she entered the Miss Michigan pageant last September and won. It was her first pageant.
