Power Out for Nearly 1,000 in Royal Oak on a Very Hot Evening

DTE estimates power will be back on by midnight for most.

Power went out about 5 p.m. for a patch of Royal Oak east of Main Street and north of 11 Mile Road on Thursday, affecting more than 950 DTE customers on a very hot day.

There are a few other scattered outages about the city for total of more than 1,000 customers without air conditioning or fans as temperatures reached the upper 90s.

Power should be back on by midnight, according to the DTE Energy Power Outage Map.

But the heat will remain, with temperatures dropping to just the mid-70s tonight. The National Weather Service is forecasting mostly sunny and hot Friday, with temps in the mid-90s.
